One of the things that seems to be raising its head more frequently is the ease with which companies can 'black-list' an individual. I have now been subject to this 'threat' from two seperate companies, without so much as an explanation. What I would like to know is why is it so easy for companies to place your name on these lists, which in the long run will affect your credit worthiness, not to mention your credibility. Surely there must be a process they need to follow, clearly indicating the fact that they made the effort to make contact with you, provide you with a details invoice, and agreed to a way forward? I was recently contacted by iburst where I indicated that I will be cancelling my subscription. The lady informed me in December that she would do so and send me my final account for payment. We agreed to this and I have been received accounts from them for the past 2 years. I receive an SMS in February 2010, threatening to hand me over for 'black-listing' if the account is not paid immediately. I try contacting the number on the sms, with no luck. I will pay, just give me the invoice so I know how much to pay. There is no need to threaten me, or hand me over.
